Truth Equals Reality
written by Vicki F. Duffy

Let's start off with a little refresher in definitions of truth, lie, and protection.
Taken from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary

TRUTH: sincerity in action, character, and utterance;

LIE: an assertion of something known or believed by the speaker to be untrue with intent to deceive; an
untrue or inaccurate statement that may or may not be believed true by the speaker;
something that misleads or deceives

PROTECTION:  to cover or shield from exposure, injury, or destruction

You tell the truth.  Is it a Lie or is it Protection?

An outright lie is wrong.  To omit information can be considered a lie.  What is the difference between what
someone perceives as a lie and from protecting someone from their reality?
Telling the truth...is that your reality??

The truth brings reality and some people cannot handle the truth of that reality.  The truth is: the truth will set you free if you accept it.  But, the truth
brings reality and for some that reality will set them into a tailspin and possibly over the edge.

When telling someone the truth about their life, the situations they are in, or things they are doing (disorder related or not) make sure that it is truth
they can handle.  As long as the person is not in any immediate danger, avoid talking to people about that other person. It is best to keep that
person's confidence.

By avoiding the truth in order to protect a person from something, that ends up looking like a lie.  If people come to you about that person and ask
you questions, the best thing to do is to minimize your comments about them & tell them to talk to the person directly with the issues they are
concerned about.  This is especially important if that person has confided in you. Your intentions may have been right, but that person will perceive it
as you lying to them.

Be careful of what you say, how you say it, and who you say it to.  Trust is a big factor with people.  If they believe that you betrayed them, they will
never trust you again!
